Where your words at yo? I haven’t made it to my WIP yet because I’m still revising like a Robot Beast Champ Soldier. Yes, that means like, really hard core. Hours upon hours and hours and hours––and sometimes with a toddler sitting on my shoulders. (Yes, literally).
I FINALLY finished Friday night/morning–or was it Sat? I don’t even know anymore. But when I say finished, I guess I don’t really mean finished. Now I’m in the middle of a read-thru which I hope to finish tomorrow. And then I plan to break for at least a day before diving back into the WIP.

Name: Sonia
Category/Genre: NA Psychological Suspense
Current Word Count/Word Count You’ll prob have at THE END: 56k, first draft done. Adding at least 500 words to each chapter during edits. Hoping to bring this to 70k before I beta test.
What you loved about your writing this week: Deciding on an end and a category after waffling about so much. I thought my MC had to be 17, for reasons, but she has new adult problems. Not in high school, works full time, worried about money, trying to cut ties with family and strike out on her own, but not sure how to get it done, basically has her own place (sort of). YA is my comfort zone though, so I’m testing myself with this.
What you loathed about your writing this week: Pretty much everything else. First draft woes. Want to light the whole thing on fire and toast marshmallows.
Random goal that may or may not have to do w/ writing. This week I’m SO gonna: Take some time to read a book from my ever mounting TBR pile. Also hope to get an after outline done on my WIP before I get into hardcore edits. I want to make sure the story flows the way I think it does in my imaginary world of sunshine and puppy kisses.
Name: Geni
Category/Genre: YA – still not sure about the rest. maybe magical realism. But I think there’s more real than magic.

What you loved about your writing this week: I got to the end of a draft. And when I say draft, I mean total and complete, threw-it-in-the-trash-and-started-again, rewrite. I started this story over a year ago and after a million revisions and two rounds with betas, I finally decided my MC wasn’t working. The girl I had in my head wasn’t the girl on the paper. So I killed it. The whole thing. I spent two weeks making notes on the characters and outlining the parts of the story that mattered and then I started with a blank page in October. I flew through the writing mostly b/c for the first time, I really knew exactly what needed to happen and why, but I’ve been fighting the doubts and the desire to cut and paste from the old version that trashing a ms leaves behind. Which is a very long way to say finishing the draft rocked.
What you loathed about your writing this week: Words. I got stuck on a few that kept appearing when I needed something succinct and exciting (they weren’t). I need new ones to help with the editing this week. More sleep would also help.
Random goal that may or may not have to do w/ writing. This week I’m SO gonna: Exercise. Between a crazy work week and a potentially broken toe, I’ve been couch-sitting for two weeks and I swear it shows. And I’d really like to use my holiday to power through some serious editing.
